This project was about how society has made us be who we are and even wear a mask as well how it has socialized others. Last semester we focused on seven topics. Gender, Sexual Orientation, Age, Race, Religion, Economic Class, and Ability. We went into deep depth about how each topic socialized us to act and not tell others because it would be seen as wrong. Also, how people will treat you because of how and who you are. For example, if you are not heterosexual then society doesn't see it as "normal." You would be a target but those who are heterosexual would be an agent. Agent and Target are different for different people. You could be an agent in one thing but a target in another thing. Target is when you are seen as something that is not "normal" or less then. Then agent is when you are seen as normal or better then.
My Mask: Escape
Project Reflection:
I have grown as a writer throughout this project by getting better at punctuation as well as starting a new paragraph after a part of speech is said. For example, after I say
2. My largest take away from this project is how male are raised to behave. It also made me wonder why is it such a bad thing for males to cry? Why does it make them seem weak? It also made me realize that I see guys who can show their emotions, strong. It means they aren’t afraid to go against the social norm.
3. My goal was to be a driver for the group. To make sure other stayed on task and paid attention to what they were doing. For example, at one point someone in my group kept going off and talking to there friends. I ended up being the person who had to talk to them and get them back on track. I would have liked to have not been the driver and everyone had just stayed on task.
